Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will make a working visit to Mexico from September 13-15, the first by an Israeli head of government.
Prime Minister Netanyahu will be received at the Los Pinos Official Residence by President Enrique Peña Nieto on September 14. During their conversations, the two leaders will assess bilateral cooperation as well as the political and economic aspects of the bilateral relationship and will exchange views on international issues.
The relationship between Mexico and Israel is characterized by a frank, open and respectful dialogue that is reflected in the high-level meetings held in recent years.
Prime Minister Netanyahu is accompanied by an Israeli business delegation seeking to expand and strengthen our economic and trade ties.
In order to find more opportunities for business and investment between Mexico and Israel, Prime Minister Netanyahu will have a working breakfast on September 14 with a group of Mexican business leaders and will participate in a business seminar on “Mexico-Israel: Redesigning the Bilateral Economic Strategy,” organized by the Mexican Business Council for Foreign Trade, Investment and Technology (COMCE) and the Israeli Embassy in Mexico.
In the afternoon, the Israeli Prime Minister will meet with the Jewish community.
Mexico and Israel established diplomatic relations on July 1, 1952. Israel is the only country in the Middle East with which Mexico has a Free Trade Agreement and is Mexico’s top trading partner and investor from the region, with trade of USD 905 million in 2016 and cumulative investments of USD 2.201 billion dollars from 1999 to 2017.
