The Mexican government will send aid to Puerto Rico today for the victims of Hurricane María, in solidarity with the American people.
Mexico will send about 30 tons of bottled water and mosquito repellent for both children and adults, supplies that are urgently needed for the hurricane victims.
It will also send a Federal Electricity Commission brigade, specialists in the production, transmission and distribution of electricity, to help evaluate and mitigate the damage caused by the hurricane and to help restore electricity.
Since before the hurricane’s arrival, the Mexican consulate in San Juan has kept the Mexican community there informed and has been offering consular assistance. So far, the Consulate has helped 30 Mexicans to leave the island. It will continue to assist any Mexican who asks for this type of help in coming days.
In addition, the Foreign Ministry will continue to send supplies of basic necessities to the Mexican consulate to help them continue their work of protecting and assisting Mexican citizens.
